Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that means many things to many people. For me, yoga is the practice of connection - joining breath and movement into meditation, returning back to yourself, connecting to nature and the communities around you. The wonderful thing about yoga is that it meets you where you are! There is no such thing as “not flexible enough,” “too heavy,” or “not into that spiritual stuff.” Your body and beliefs will never look exactly like your neighbors, so no need to try and make it that way. Yoga gives you what you put into it. Some days all you want to put in is inhaling and exhaling, and if you are doing it with intention that is enough! When you practice with me I encourage you to take what you need from it and leave behind what you do not.
The dancer in me usually prefers a vinyasa flow, where the poses are linked together into flowing sequences timed with your breath. Vinyasa can be slowed or quickened to suit the class. Every class I lead is open to modifications or taking breaks when needed. I also often include some pranayama (breath work) and we always end class with the ultimate resting pose of savasana (corpse pose).
If you have any questions about yoga or any aspect of my classes, don’t hesitate to send me a message.
